ZINS ORGANIC HAIRCARE SALON
In the vegan capital of Europe, Berlin, clean living is an unstoppable trend. Hair care is no exception. See Zins Organic Salon, nestled in a quiet tree-lined street of the hip area of Neukolln. From the minute you step in, it’s clear that the venue by hairdresser and make-up artist Nadine Zins is no ordinary salon, but a passion project. Every hand-picked object of this stylish space has a story and a soul: “the pieces have found me, not vice versa” says Zins. The magnificent 100 years old oak console was rotting in a warehouse. The art deco mirror was obtained in exchange for a haircut. The Danish kitchen furniture was found abandoned in the street. The only two leather hair washing chairs (“I don’t want to make a cash cow of this, I like to have space” tells us Zins) are from a Californian salon of the Sixties. The abstract paintings on the chic beige walls are by Finnish artist Eva Hauss. Instead of the usual polyester robes, guests are provided with night blue silk kimonos made by a Japanese designer. After 10 years working in big upmarket salons, a stint in bride grooming in Australia, and a few years as a make-up artist in the movie industry in Germany, Nadine has realized her vision for personalized and clean hair care in this cozy space. A visit to Zins is a Zen, calming experience. Phones are switched off. Plants adorn every corner. Each client is given full attention. Hair care treatments are tailor-made for each guest using the 100 % organic oils, shampoos, conditioners, serums, waxes and glosses of the high end Austrian brand Less in More. Color is by the Finest Pigments line of Davines, elaborated with 98% natural derived ingredients, without ammonia. Cuts are realized with meticulous precision, taking in stock the personality of each client (Zins favors natural, easy looks). A light personalized make-up can complete the styling. Whatever you come here for, you will emerge refreshed, both in mood and appearance. Definitely worth a detour. ( http://zins-ohcs.com/ )
