ZYU SKINCARE
For the hardcore skincare addicts, the lockdown has been a dark time: deprived of treatments at the beauty salon, they´ve longed for effective home solutions. Fortunately beauty companies with a creative mind have provided much needed relief. See Zyu, a Singapore-based clean skincare brand launched at the onset of the pandemic: that last spring has released a limited edition Glow-it-Yourself Treatment Kit, a customisable DIY set of products (2 cleansers, an AHA serum, an exfoliating face mask and a restoring gel) that has allowed home-bound users to replicate a professional facial with salon-grade results. The young Singaporean brand is the brainchild of Zoen Tay, a stunning 23 year old medical student: that together with her fiancé, Australian actor Joshua Tan, has envisioned an “effective, life changing skincare with a natural glow, realised with cutting edge technology and natural premium ingredients”. Inspired by the knowledge Tay has inherited from her family, for decades in the beauty industry (her parents own a Beauty Spa in Singapore since 1991), the brand has debuted with an Anti-Oxidant Night Mask, a leave-in concoction brimming with regenerating botanicals -rosemary, lily, arbutin and vitamins A & E- that brightens the complexion overnight (Tay has tested it on herself for a year before releasing it). A Revitalising Tonic with peptides and salicylic acid that refines the epidermis, and the Complexion Perfector SPF 50, a lightweight emulsion that shields from the sun and the blue light from our devices – with vitamins B3 & B5, green tea, liquorice, mulberry and chamomile – have followed. A gentle exfoliating cleanser, designed to bring out the inner glow, will be the next addition to the collection. In the meantime, Tay´s radiant complexion is the best ad for the line. “Be confident in your skin” she tells her followers.
