GITTI NAIL POLISH, BerlinI
It´s finally summer, and time to flaunt our nails: impeccable mani-pedis are a season´s must. But how to beautify our extremities, without exposing ourselves to the hazardous chemicals used in most commercial nail polishes? More and more companies are addressing the problem: a newborn Berliner brand has gone a step further, promising “a nail polish revolution”. It´s Gitti, the brainchild of former Coca Cola executive, yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner Jennifer Baum, created “to make nail polish better for you and the planet”. Launched last May with a capsule collection of 3 shades and a base & top coat, the line was sold out within an hour. The secret of its success? “Instead of the petrochemicals normally used as a base in most nail polishes, our polishes are made of 55% pure water and are free from nasties such as formaldehyde, phthalates, toluene, parabens, fragrances and micro-plastics without compromising on performance: they are glossy, cover the nail seamlessly, dry quickly and last for a long time.” says Jenni. “And this is not the end of the journey: we are committed to making our formula better and better.” In addition, the vegan polishes (pigments are not derived from fish or insects) are enriched with vitamin C, E and B5, and they are made in France, in a lab chosen for its sustainable and environment-friendly practices. “Conscious beauty is very important to me” says Jenni. “We are celebrating beauty and the fun of the nail polish experience, but in a very conscious, very aware way. “ Not for nothing 2% of Gitti´s revenues go to Charity Water, a non-profit organisation providing clean and safe drinking water in developing countries. What´s not to like.
