UND GRETEL
Independent, avant-garde, innovative, eco-conscious, in other words very much like its birthplace, the uber-cool German capital Berlin: it’s Und Gretel, the new kid on the block of the European make-up scene (undgretel.com). Created by celebrity make-up artist Christina Roth, the natural make-up brand was born out of a personal search for “fresh bold and modern colors and silky smooth textures, without toxic preservatives and irritating fragrances”. The result is a modern, urban, original, and certified organic capsule collection of only 11 products (“less is more”, says Christina) that, just like a little black dress, one can wear anywhere and anytime, and one can mix, match and superimpose for a surprising variety of looks. This user-friendly “curated wardrobe for the face”, developed by Christina with marketing expert Stephanie Dettmann (whom has worked with BMW and Coca Cola), has been inspired by what’s on the international catwalks, by contemporary art, the German countryside, and, of course, by what one sees in the streets of cutting-edge Berlin. The best-sellers? Ilge, a Liftling Modellage Powder duo that magically sculpts the face, Sunne, a translucent compact powder that lights up the complexion, and Tagarot, a lipstick that embellishes the tone of every shade of lips. Each product is carefully formulated using only the purest natural and organic ingredients form around the world, grown with ethical practices, and in a sustainable way. To create products that are pure and clean, but also a “little punk and little Couture, just like Berlin”.
