LA FEMME PRADA & L’HOMME PRADA
When Prada launches something new, the world pays attention. It was no exception last June, when the international press descended on Milan for a 2 day happening – culminating with a stunning private dinner at Fondazione Prada – in honor of La Femme Prada & L’Homme Prada, the new fragrances by the Italian fashion house known for its visionary avant-garde approach. Celebrating individuality, freedom, and the blurring of the genders, the new, modern scents – whose exotic notes include frangipani, ylang ylang, tuberose, vetiver, iris, amber, neroli, geranium and patchouli – are presented in bottles wrapped in a sensual embrace, creating a unique entity. And defying clichés, can be worn by women and men alike. No wonder the ambassadors of these new gender-fluid fragrances are 4 young talents – Mia Goth, Mia Wasikowska, Ansel Elgort and Dane DeHaan – embodying a new generation of Millennial actors challenging the conventional stereotypes. “What excites me about the new perfumes is that they are questioning identity” says Mia Goth, whom, far from the enigmatic characters she’s portrayed on the big screen, in real life is sweet, articulate, and looks younger than her 23 years. “It’s amazing that they are celebrating the fact that we are not bound to a single version of ourselves, but we are multifaceted, complex human beings with a lot of different shades. Wearing La Femme makes me feel strong, powerful and elegant.” she adds. “While creating La Femme, I had in mind a Prada ad where a very elegant woman, with dewy skin, is surrounded by luggage in a pagoda; and seems on a journey to somewhere sensual and exotic “ says Daniela Andrier, the favorite perfumer of Miuccia Prada, creator of the new fragrances. “ The perfumes have an element of nostalgia, a nod to the past, combined to very innovative elements” she concludes. Like all Prada creations, after all.
