DODO’S BLOW DRY BAR
A personal or professional meeting, and no time for a long session at the hairdresser? The answer is found in those Blow Dry Bars – offering the perfect coiffure in the time one can say “hairspray” – that have sprouted up not only in their birthplace, the USA, but in Europe as well. See the recently inaugurated Dodo’s Blow Dry Bar, in Berlin’s trendy district of Mitte. The space is the brainchild of Dominic Keller, the 29 years old stylist behind the look of many German It girls, actresses and singers, as well as of tennis champion Angelique Kerber. In his new chic and intimate salon – it has only 4 chairs, for a personalized service – one can have one’s mane blow dried to perfection (with or without washing) using Balmain’s Hair Couture products, even without an appointment. Every hairstyle is custom-made for each guest. To complete one’s polished look, make-up artist in residence Miryam Ajami will retouch your day make-up, or realize a new sophisticated evening look, including eyebrow shaping and false eyelashes application. Although the salon opens directly on the street, it is hosted by the hip Amano Boutique hotel. Drinks are delivered by the hotel bar, and the entire space is often booked for bachelorette parties, where 10 to 15 girls get a makeover while sipping champagne or prosecco in a cozy and cocooning atmosphere. The space also serves as a showcase for local talent and creativity: at the moment a capsule collection of Levi’s pieces re-elaborated by Berlin artist Paula Kunkel is on display. And young German tattoo artist Philpp Eid offers stylish tattoos by appointment. Very Berlin. (Blow-dry from euro 20 to euro 36, braiding euro 10, make-up from euro 20 to euro 36)
