The Store at Soho House, Berlin
When it comes to all around coolness, Soho House, the exclusive members-only club with venues in hot spots like London, New York and Hollywood, is hard to beat. So is not a surprise that the latest venture by Soho House Berlin is an urban temple of cool. Concisely named The Store, and situated at the ground floor of the elegant club building, the new space, open to the public, is actually much more than a shop (thestores.com). It is rather a carefully curated space where to soak into all things stylish. Fashion is represented by a selection of top international designers such as The Row, Balenciaga, Alexander Wan, or Proenza Schouler; there are coffee table books, decor objects, fragrant fresh flowers, a record shop with a dj, a co-working space, and an organic café serving fresh juices, soups, and salads. Huge sofas where to linger create a loungy atmosphere. But it is the beauty section aimed to women on the go that steals the show. There is a Hair Salon by John Wood from London, offering form a quick blow dry (euro 25) to color touch-ups (€ 50), or an express conditioning treatment (€ 10). In the Bang Bar, bangs are cut and groomed to perfection. The Cheeky Parlour, where clients sit around a long communal table, provides from a File & Paint manicures (€ 15) or proper full manicures (€25) to make-up sessions (€35), eyelash and eyebrow tinting (€ 25) and eyebrow shaping (€10) for a full mini make-over. The beauty corner features best-sellers products from niche quality (and mostly organic) brands such as Dr. Jackson’s, Cosmetics 27, Morihata, Sunday Riley, Phylia de M., and Rahua. I feel like I’ve gone to beauty heaven.
