BIRKHOLZ PERFUME BAR

Have you ever been stuck in a perfume rut? A situation where your signature scent – the one you´ve been wearing since high school – has gone out of production, and after spritzing yourself to death at the airport duty-free, even the more niche perfume fails to embody how you want to be perceived? It´s time to have a fragrance tailor-made: as individuality is the “mot du jour” not only in the fashion world, but in the perfume world too. In Berlin, the recently inaugurated Birkholz Perfume Bar caters to this need. Created by beauty entrepreneur Nasyr Birkholz with his son Philp, and located in the chic area of Charlottenburg a step away from the Kurfürstendamm shopping avenue, the elegant boutique is a cocooning temple where to achieve the perfect fragrance. A visit to the store debuts with a welcome drink served at a sleek wooden table. Here “perfume sommelier” Philip Birkholz or his colleague Lloyd Igbinoba guide you through a “Perfume Journey” starting with a questionnaire designed to narrow down your personality (sporty or glam? Bold or tender?). The program will identify the 4 perfumes (from the 25 of the in-house collection) that better suit your wants and needs. You can choose one (the Berlin Soul inspired by the notorious Berlin nights is a best-seller) or a mixture of 2 or more, obtained with the technique of “layering” (a 100 ml personalised perfume, € 189). You can also choose your favourite glass flacon and the colour of the hand-stitched leather cap. All perfumes are created with high-quality ingredients manufactured in France, Switzerland and Germany. For those that don´t like spraying directly on the skin, there is a special necklace or bracelet (in bronze, silver or gold plated) containing a porcelain pearl absorbing the scent. Ah, and you can brand your own perfume too: a custom-made etiquette with the name you choose and your design will be printed especially for you (minimum order 10 bottles, price €1490). Unique, just like Berlin.
